A lot of people do not like the rain. The gloomy, grey skies seem to sour their mood. It is an inconvenience to be out and about as you are getting wet and dodging puddles. It just seems to make the days longer and slower.
We have a storm moving up the Atlantic coast that is producing a lot of rain here. It rained all night last night and most of today. It will be raining for the next couple of days too.
I do not mind a couple rainy days, especially this time of year. It means that I do not have to water my flowers as often. It means the temperature will cool off and the pollen will not be as bad, for a few days at least.
I enjoy watching the birds when it rains. It does not seem to bother them. I think it’s because they know that the rain is going to bring them abundant blessings. You see, when it rains and the ground is soaked, it begins to open up and the earthworms come to the surface. The birds then get to have a feast!
What if we were to think of the rain in our own personal lives the same way the birds do? What if we were to think of the rain as God’s way of softening and nourishing the dry, hard places in our soul? What if the rainy days are just God’s way of opening our hearts up to abundant blessings He has waiting for us? After all, once a storm is over, there is often a rainbow…
