4 Tips to make sure your home is clean & ready for holiday entertaining!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of BISSELL Homecare, Inc.. All opinions are 100% mine.

The holidays are fast approaching and that means so is holiday entertaining!  Everyone talks about "spring cleaning" your home, but spring is now long gone.  There are several things you can do on a regular basis to keep your home neat, clean and organized so that you don't have to tear your home apart or your hair out while trying to get ready for parties and family events.

One thing that definitely helps save time & energy when cleaning your house is having a quality vacuum cleaner. I have been looking for a better vacuum than the one I am currently using.  The home I currently live in has carpet and with my allergies and slight germ-aphobia, I vacuum all the time!  I have been looking at the vacuums made by BISSELL and saw that they have many cleaning tips you can find on their website.

Here are a 4 tips of my own to help you get your house ready for holiday entertaining:

1. Spend 1-2 hours a week doing light cleaning. Clean the bathroom sink, commode & bathtub. Sweep the floors and vacuum  the carpet. Use a duster to dust your furniture. Clean the mirrors in the bathroom.

2. Once a month do heavier cleaning. Dust with furniture polish, mop the floors and wipe off all the baseboards and window casings. Clean the glass doors, knock down any cobwebs and

3. Make it a family affair! Get your kids and spouse involved by making up a chore chart and giving everyone different responsibilities to take care of.  Plan a special meal, dessert, trip to the park or family game night once a week or month as a treat for everyone's efforts.

4. Keep things as organized as possible & clutter to a minimum. Use shelving units, baskets, bins and containers to keep all your items organized and in their proper place. The key is to actually put things in their place. This way you have less to clean, put away, organize and go through each week and month and before parties and gatherings.

After the party, don't delay in cleaning up. Be sure to schedule time the next day to go ahead and do your basic clean up. Then just follow the other 4 tips and you will be ready for all your other family events without having to spend days cleaning.

Using a high quality vacuum like BISSELL's new PowerGlide® with Lift-Off® Technology can definitely help you save time while doing those weekly and monthly chores.  The new PowerGlide® with Lift-Off® Technology is powerful yet lightweight enough to tackle the home’s toughest messes, including stairs, drapes and other hard-to –reach places.  It offers a long-stretch hose, swivel steering, adjustable handle for easy use and storage, large capacity dirt cup, a 27 foot cord and comes with a TurboBrush® and crevice tool!  If you are shopping for a new vacuum, you can get $20 off & Free Shipping on Select products from BISSELL right now when you use the code POWERGLIDE.

I love spending time with my family & creating memories! While having all that fun, we can also create some big messes. BISSELL totally understands that and is celebrating families & those special (but messy) moments with their "Celebrating Messy Moments" Contest right now. When you show BISSELL a mess that only a vacuum can clean up, you can enter to win a new PowerGlide® with Lift-Off® Technology vacuum or a $50 Gift Card for BISSELL.com!

What about you? Are you a BISSELL vacuum owner & fan too? What other cleaning tips do you have to share that can help with holiday entertaining? Feel free to share below!  Thank you!

Great tips! I am terrible about waiting until my house is a disaster to clean. Therefore it takes forever to get the job done.

Great tips! I’ve been dedicating each weekend to cleaning out a different room of the house, and it’s been working very well so far.

Thanks for the tips! Your routine is definitely better than the one most people have. Most busy home owners clean only once a week and this way lots of dirt accumulates on every surface, in every appliance and practically everywhere. But with your way the clutter will be set to a minimum and the cleaning should be easier. In most homes the whole cleaning is more a matter of maintenance. If you wash your dishes and clean the spills from the surfaces in the moment you make them, your extensive cleaning sessions will be a lot shorter and easier.
